Bank operations to a hedge fund
The question is ownership. A candidate who handed pieces across a large organization has to be able to carry the work on a smaller team.
Operations
Emerald recruits trade support, settlements, reconciliations, corporate actions, onboarding, collateral, margin, and investment operations talent. This page is for firms that need the work done, not a generic operations résumé, and for candidates moving between a bank and a fund.
The market
Operations talent sits in banks, hedge funds, asset managers, and the administrators beside them. A bank operations candidate does not automatically translate to a hedge fund. Funds are leaner. The person often has to own more of the process directly and live with less infrastructure.
Role distinctions
The question is ownership. A candidate who handed pieces across a large organization has to be able to carry the work on a smaller team.
Emerald keeps collateral management and margin as separate seats. The search has to name which one the hire will run.
Trade support, settlements, reconciliations, corporate actions, and onboarding are not one “operations” profile. The slate follows the process.
How Emerald runs it
Emerald maps the process being hired, then the places that work is done, including adjacent teams when the work translates. Submissions are people who have done that process, not the closest title.
Name the break the team cannot absorb. A search described only as “operations” will be calibrated back to a process before Emerald spends the market’s attention.
Say which process you run and how much of it you own without a large team behind you. That is what a fund will test, and what Emerald will ask before representing you.
Proof
The same ownership test Emerald uses on front-office bank-to-fund moves applies here. A well-known operations platform is not, by itself, evidence the person can carry the work on a lean team.
Direct ownership. Hedge funds are leaner, so the candidate often needs to carry more of the process, with less infrastructure, and be accountable for the outcome.
No. Emerald treats them as different seats. The mandate has to say which one the hire will own.
