Administrator and fund
Fund-administration experience is not a consolation profile. When the work translates, it can be the rational primary market.
Fund accounting and finance
Emerald recruits fund accountants, fund-administration talent, controllers, and finance leaders, including private-markets finance and people who cross over from product control. This page is for funds, administrators, and managers hiring those seats, and for candidates in the adjacent pools those seats actually hire from.
The market
The talent sits in fund administrators, hedge funds, asset managers, and public accounting. A hiring manager who will only see one of those backgrounds can miss the pool that is actually local. A Princeton-area fund that insists on public-accounting or hedge-fund résumés for an operations or accounting seat may ignore the concentration of fund administrators around it.
Role distinctions
Fund-administration experience is not a consolation profile. When the work translates, it can be the rational primary market.
Some finance seats want someone who has explained a desk’s P&L. That is a product-control crossover, not a generic accounting search. The difference is on the risk and product-control page.
A controller search and a fund-accounting preparer search are different levels of ownership. Emerald calibrates the title against the work, not the other way around.
How Emerald runs it
Emerald maps administrators, funds, and the accounting firms that feed them, then applies the must-haves. Volume, when it happens, still has a bar: repeat hiring is not an excuse to widen the profile.
Say whether you will see administrator backgrounds. If the local market is administrators, refusing that pool is a specification problem, not a sourcing problem.
Fund accounting, administration, and controllership are different stories. Emerald will tell a client which one you are, including when an administrator background is the relevant one.
Proof
In one concentrated hiring period, Emerald filled eight VP and Director-level fund-accounting seats across major fund administrators. The work was market mapping and title calibration. Volume did not lower the bar. Client names stay off this page.
When the work translates, and especially when the local talent market is administrators rather than another hedge fund. An artificially narrow hedge-fund-only pool can ignore the people most likely to do the job.
By mapping the market, calibrating titles, and repeating a standard instead of widening it. The eight were VP and Director-level seats across major fund administrators. The firms are not named here.
